Obituary of Audrey Sarah Leonard
The death of Audrey Sarah Leonard of Saint John, wife of the late Edwin Delbert Leonard, occurred on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on April 8, 1916 in Saint John, she was one of six children of the late Percy and Martha (Moore) Magee. Audrey was a member of St. Mary and St. Bartholomew’s Church, honorary member of N.B. Kennel Club, secretary of the N.B. Toy Dog Club, member of the Fundy African Violet Association, and served on the Board of Directors of the Ladies Kennel Club and the Saint John Animal Rescue League. She was also the coordinator of the Breeder Referral Service for the N.B. Kennel Club Inc. for approximately 15 years. Audrey is survived by her four children: Edwin (Sonny) at home, Irene Craft (wife of the late Doug Craft) of Saint John, Isabel Nogueira (Chester (Bud)) of Upper Golden Grove, and Brenda McDonald (Michael) of Mississauga, ON; two grandsons; three granddaughters; four great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters; two nieces; and one nephew. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been predeceased by her brothers, Harry, Robert J., and Arthur (an adoptive brother); and three sisters, Miss Alice Mae Irene “Mamie”, Mrs. Hazel Isabel Cook, and Mrs. Florence Louise Gertrude Wilson. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be celebrated from Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Animal Rescue League or St. Mary and St. Bartholomew’s Church would be appreciated by the family. www.brenansfh.com.
