Obituary of Josephine Mary Crowley
The death of Josephine Mary “Josie” (Christie) Crowley of Saint John, wife of the late Charles Crowley of 51 years, occurred on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bathurst, NB, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Godin) Christie. Josephine was a devoted wife, mother, who looked after her son, Stewart for over sixty years. Always willing to reach out and volunteer, helping at bingo, selling tickets, working elections and helping at Rocmaura Nursing Home for many years. A faithful member of St. Pius X Church and their CWL, she enjoyed playing bingo and 45’s with family and friends, but loved it most when surrounded by her family. She is survived by her three sons, Stewart, Michael (Bernadette) and Ian (Anne) all of Saint John; sisters, Sister Gina Christie SC of Halifax, Rose Marie Doucet of Bathurst; daughter-in-law Kay Crowley; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by two sons, Joseph and Paul; four sisters, Kathleen Dube, Delia De Varenne, Margaret Moreau and Frances Brewster; brother, Wilfred Daigle. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424) with visiting on Thursday, April 15, 2010 and Friday, April 16, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 17, 2010 from St. Pius X at 10:00 am. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to St. Pius X Building Fund, Rocmaura Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
