Obituary of Howard Munsel Carr

The death of Howard Carr, surrounded by his family, husband of the late Kathleen (McDermont) Carr, formerly of Acamac Beach, occurred at the St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home on Saturday, February 6, 2010. He was born on September 23, 1921 at Geary N.B. to the late Lorne and Agnus (Foss) Carr. Howard served in World War II with the Canadian Army. He worked at Lantic Sugar and with George Maybee and Sons Construction until his retirement. Howard loved long drives, picnics with his children, Mom’s homecooking, the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Blue Jays. He lived in Acamac for over 60 years. He is survived by his 11 children: Glendon Carr (Lynn) of Nawigiwauk, Brian Carr, Clayton Carr (Evelyn), Bernice Carr, Barbara Clarke, Brenda Sarty, Angela Gallop and Deborah Mullin (Joe Dowde) all of Saint John, Barry Carr (Connie) of Wheatley, ON, Katherine Fougere (Donald) of Hampton and Dianna Carr (Ian Andrews) of Calgary, AB; one brother: Temple Carr (Francis) of Hoyt ; one sister, Nora Wilson (Bernard) of Saint John and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, Howard was predeceased by a son Richard, three brothers, Stuart, Allen and Philip; four sisters: Isabel, Melda, Ruby and Helen. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday 7-9pm and Wednesday 2 - 4 and 7 -9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Rose of Lima Church on Thursday February 11, 2010 at 1 pm. Interment to follow at Holy Cross cemetery. Following the burial a reception will be held at the Dennis Morris Community Center on Greenhead Rd. A Tribute to a Veteran Service will be held on Wednesday at 7 p m. Donations to the charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by the family.
