Obituary of Norman C. Brown
Passed away, surrounded by his family on August 18, 2010, in the Garden Suite of Loch Lomond Villa. Born at Coal Creek, NB, on March 9, 1917, he was the son of the late Moses and Delpina (Colwell) Brown. In 1940, he married his late wife Ida Sypher, and they moved to East Saint John where he owned and operated Brown’s Irving Service Station on Bayside Drive for 23 years. At the time of his retirement, Norman was employed by the Provincial Government Revenue and Motor Vehicle Department. Norman was a member of Park Avenue United Church, and was proud of having helped build the beautiful sanctuary completed in 1949. For the past 15 years, Norman has been a resident of Loch Lomond Villa where he had many friends and enjoyed the “roundtable” chats in HR2, card games at St. Joachim’s, and his favourite trips to Mama George’s. Norman is survived by his family; Joan (Howard) Carle, Ken (Eileen) Brown, Janet (Allison) Capson; grandchildren Steven (Lori) Carle, Andrea (Chris) Richard, Heather (Dana) Helpard, Scott Brown, and Eric Brown; great-grandchildren Justin, Jordan, Haley, Olivia, Braden, Alex and Zachary. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am from Brenan’s Chapel. Private interment will take place at Red Bank Cemetery, Chipman, NB. A sincere thank you to Cindy Donovan and the wonderful staff of Loch Lomond Villa for their friendship, care and support. Donations to Park Avenue United Church or the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
