Obituary of Melvina Savoy

The death of Melvina (Chiasson) Savoy of Saint John, NB, wife of John W. Savoy, her loving husband of 53 years, occurred on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was born on May 13, 1936 in Bathurst, NB, she was a daughter of the late Ovila and Edith (Doucet) Chiasson. Melvina was employed with Torryburn Nursing Home as a caregiver. Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, Joseph (Marion) Savoy of French Village, John (Heather) Savoy of Saint John; two daughters, Mildred (Blair) Cameron, Melvina (Wilfred) Snodgrass both of Saint John; two brothers, James Chiasson, Tony Chiasson (Jean) both of Saint John; two sisters, Catherine Maillet of Montreal, Mary Chiasson of Saint John; eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by one brother, Gerry Chiasson, one sister, Yvonne Sanipass. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 10 am. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
