Obituary of Helen Marion Cutler
On Tuesday, November 16, 2010, Helen Marion (McGillivray) Cutler passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a period of failing health. Born in Saint John on January 02, 1919, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen (Dowd) McGillivray, and wife of the late C. Leo Cutler who predeceased her in 2005. Helen is survived by her children, daughters Eleanor Allen (Don) of Scarborough, Ontario, Helen Logan (Kevin) of Saint John, NB; sons Paul (Gail) of Smithtown, NB, David (Katherine) of Moncton, NB, and Brian of Fredericton, NB. She is also survived by one sister, Claire McGowan (Murray) of Saint John, and a brother, Gerard McGillivray (Margaret) of Halifax, NS. Left behind also are grandchildren Jennifer and Janice Allen, Greg (Colleen) and Steve Cutler, Laura and Andrew Cutler, Matthew Logan; and several nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters, Kathleen, Carmel, Eileen, Joseph, Ronald, Bernard, Paul, Rev. Gregory McGillivray, and Rev. Maurice McGillivray. Mom was, for the most part, a “stay at home” mom from where she strove to “keep us on the right track”. She did, however, enjoy a period of time where she was employed with Sears Canada in the catalogue department, where she developed and enjoyed many long-lasting friendships. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Friday, November 19, 2010, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Holy Trinity Church on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Chateau de Champlain (Boar’s Head Road, Saint John) and 5CS of the Saint John Regional Hospital for the care and concern extended to our mom during the last six years.
