Obituary of Blanche Doucett
Doucett, Blanche – The death of Blanche Doucett of Saint John, NB, wife of the late Gerard Thomas Doucett, occurred on Monday, September 21, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Lennox Island, PEI, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Ann (Peters) Thomas. A veteran of WW II, having served with CWAC Occupation Forces Northern Germany. Later Blanche was employed as a clerk at Canadian Tire Stores and with security at Sears Canada Ltd. An active member of the Royal Canadian Legion “Fundy Ladies” Branch 68 for many years and St. Pius CWL. She is survived by two sons, Peter (Candice) and Dennis, both of Saint John; a daughter, Virginia “Ginny” Doucett (Diane) of Kanata, ON; two sisters, Nanette Brooker (Wallace) of Oakville, ON and Lillian Haroulakis of Mississauga, ON; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Amanda, Gabriel, Shana, Dakota, Danielle, Louis, Paul and Bridget; two great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by three children: a son, Thomas and two infants, Geraldine and Paul; four sisters, Laura, Mabel, Rachael and Mary Jane. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Thursday from 7-9 pm and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. There will be a Tribute to a Veteran Service conducted by the RCL on Friday at 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Church on Saturday, September 26 at 10:00 am. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery on Monday, September 28, 2009 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers remembrances made to the Canadian Diabetic Association would be appreciated by the family. www.brenansfh.com
