Obituary of Bessie J. Stevenson
The death of Bessie Josephine Stevenson of Saint John, NB occurred on Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Chipman, NB on October 1, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Estella (Day) Stevenson. Bessie was employed at Richardson Securities as a secretary for many years before her retirement. She was a long time member of the U.C.W. and Centenary Queen Square United Church. She enjoyed handcrafts and even knitted hats for babies. Bessie was a very creative person. Bessie is survived by her sister, Stella M. Stevenson of Saint John; her sister-in-law, Marie Stevenson of Burnaby, BC, as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends. She is predeceased by her sisters, Myrtle Smith, Remona Murray, Muriel Smith; her brothers, Charlie, William and Hiram Stevenson. The family wishes to thank Bessie’s caregivers; Mary Ann Poulin, Evelyn Thibodeau, Tara Murphy, Trudy Dugas and Jane Middleton, for all their care and support. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424), with visiting on Sunday from 2-4 PM and Monday at Grand Lake Community Chapel, 43 Main Street, Chipman, NB (506-339-5522) from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 from Chipman United Church, Chipman at 2:00 PM. Interment to take place in Redbank Cemetery at a later date. Remembrances may be made to the Saint John Regional Hospital Neo-Natal Unit or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
