Obituary of Gregory Fowler Meahan
The death of Gregory F. Meahan of Saint John, NB, husband of Margaret “Peggy” (Smith) occurred on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the Saint John Regional. Born at Saint John on September 15, 1930, he was a son of the late Joseph and Ida (Fowler) Meahan. Greg was employed with the CN and VIA Rail for over thirty years until his retirement. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #58 for 55 years and the Adanac Club. Greg was an avid reader, especially history, and he always enjoyed talking politics with friends. Greg enjoyed a good game of cards and playing pool. Besides his loving wife of forty years, Greg is survived by his children, Joseph and, Jacqueline both of Saint John; brother, Frank Meahan (Nita) of Saint John; sister, Bertha Biggar of Owen Sound, ON; grandchildren, Jessica and Megan, as well as several nieces and nephews. Greg was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Bobby and Gerald Meahan and his sisters, Rita, Catherine and Shirley. Greg’s wishes were to have no visitation or funeral service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Arthritis Society or the charity of the donor’s choice. Peggy and family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Extra Mural Program and Palliative Care for there kindness and support during this difficult time.
