Obituary of Eileen Yvonne Rosa Strickland
The death of Eileen Strickland of Saint John, NB, occurred peacefully at her residence on January 19, 2010 at the age of 89. Eileen was born November 7, 1920 in Folkston, England. She was the daughter of Ernest and Rose (Orchard) Ovenden. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Harry; her brother Peter and sister, Patricia. Eileen is survived by her three children, John of Vancouver, Mary Cheslock (Dave Kelly) and James (Donna) of Toronto; two granddaughters, Linda (Scott) Janes and Jennifer (Scott) Keir; her priceless great-grandchildren, Corey Janes, Riley Janes, MacKenzie Keir and Michael Keir; one sister, Brenda (Noel) Fellows; one brother, Robert (Pat) Ovenden and many nieces and nephews. Many thanks to our wonderful home care workers Debbie, Rose and Charmaine. Keeping with Eileen’s wishes cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Eileen will be laid to rest in Sandon, England, next to her husband Harry in the spring. Remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
