Obituary of John William Kee
John Kee passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, February 9th, 2010. Born in Saint John in 1937, John was the son of the late Dr. Ralph and Audrey (Burnside) Kee. He is survived by “the love of his life” Gayle (Godfrey), daughter Shelley Kee (Larry Rogers) of Moncton, NB and son John (Jay) Kee of Toronto, ON, grandsons Dylan and Kyle Rogers, granddaughter Ryleigh Kee, brother-in-law Ronald Lister, nephew John Lister of Toronto and niece Susan (Lister) Grant of Long Sault, ON. John was predeceased by his beloved sister, Patricia (Ronald) Lister.A graduate of Saint John High School and the University of New Brunswick, John had a successful 36 year career with MacMillan Bathurst Package Ltd., which led the family to reside in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Quebec. Retiring in 1998, John and Gayle returned from Montreal to New Brunswick, where he accepted a contract position with the newly-created Master Packaging in Moncton. In 2000, John commenced his consulting practice, which he continued until 2009.John was a devoted husband, an outstanding father, and was blessed with many dear and close friends. He was his grandchildren’s most avid fan, and particularly enjoyed watching grandsons Dylan and Kyle participate in their various athletic achievements.John was an avid golfer, a member of Riverside Golf Club, and a member of the Parr Town Club. John was Past President of the Kennebecasis Valley Minor Hockey Association, and loved coaching hockey. Known best for his incredible sense of humor, John always enjoyed a laugh with friends, family and acquaintances. This humor continued throughout his courageous seven year battle with cancer. He will be remembered fondly by those whose lives John has touched. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 1:00 PM from St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Rothesay, with Rev. Canon Albert Snelgrove and Rev. Jim Golding officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bobby’s Hope House, Hospice, NB the Saint John Animal Rescue League, or the charity of the donor’s choice. www.brenansfh.com
