Obituary of Roberta Margaret Shaw
Roberta Margaret Shaw, of Sidney BC, passed away on October 13, 2010 at the age of 91. Formerly of Saint John NB, she was the wife of the late R Donald Shaw; daughter of the late Hannah M and Robert Cairns, Black Beach Lorneville NB; foster daughter of the late Violet and Harold Moore, West Saint John. She is survived by twin daughter Sandra I Rapley of Franktown Colorado; niece, Brenda Watson, of Tillsonburg ON; 3 grandsons, Andrew Rapley, Greenville South Carolina; Michael Rapley, Houston Texas; Christopher Rapley, Franktown Colorado; 4 great grandchildren, Parker & Ava Rapley, Houston Texas; Ryan Rapley, Franktown Colorado; Paige Rapley, Greenville South Carolina and several nephews and a niece in Parksville, BC and Calgary, Alberta. She was also predeceased by foster sister, Marjorie Bothwell, Calgary Alta; twin son, David Roy Shaw, Toronto ON; and twin sister Lana Irene Abric, Saanichton BC. Mrs. Shaw had been in many musical shows and choirs in Saint John. She played several musical instruments; was a member of Bows and Bells Square Dancing. She and her late husband spent many winters in Rocky Creek Florida, and they traveled overseas several times. She was a RNA working in the TB hospital and many years at the DVA Hospital and Ridgewood Veterans Hospital. Married 60 years, she and her late husband moved to Saanichton BC, in July 2000. In keeping with Roberta’s request, no formal funeral services will be held. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Old Cemetery, Saint John West, NB. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. The funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424).
