Obituary of Ronald Stanley Humphrey
Ronald Stanley Humphrey of Saint John, husband of Doreen “Dodie” (Wallace) Humphrey, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Saint John on August 20, 1934, he was a son of the late G. Goodrich and Effie (Keirstead) Humphrey. Ron was a member of the Saint John Police Force for more than 32 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and time spent at his camp at Millstream. He was a graduate of Saint John Vocational School, and stayed active as a member of the Alumni. In his younger years, he was a accomplished rugby and hockey player, and also played in the school band. In addition to his wife of 50 years, Ron is survived by two sons, Mike Humphrey (Belinda) and Ronald James “Jamie” Humphrey (Jennifer), and a daughter Cathy Ricketts (Ed), all of Saint John; a brother, Carl Humphrey (Joyce) of Saint John; a sister, Beatrice “Sis” Martin, also of Saint John; grandchildren Sarah, Emily, Olivia, Michaela, Grace, and Maria; and several nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by brothers George, Gerald, and Kenny; and by sisters Marjorie, Sylvia, Florence, and Lois. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Saturday from 7-9 PM and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 22, 2010 at 2:00 PM from Main Street Baptist Church. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances to Main Street Baptist Church or the Saint John Vocational School Scholarship Fund would be appreciated by the family.
