Obituary of Jean Gertrude Benton
Jean Gertrude Benton of Saint John, wife of the late Ralph Benton, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Saint John on September 28, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Hilda (Warrington) Miller. Jean was formerly employed with the Admiral Beatty Hotel. She was a former member of the Sea Gulls Seniors Bowling League, the Golden Harps Senior Citizen’s Club, and the Saint John Boys and Girls Club. She had a talent for making various crafts, and enjoyed music. Jean is survived by two sisters, Joyce Goddard of Saint John and Hilda Rivers (Kenneth) of Tampa, Florida; and by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and to her parents, Jean was predeceased by brothers Morris, Lawrence, Lewis and Donald Miller; and by sisters Alice Steed and Beatrice Miller. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
