Obituary of Reginald Hayward Smith
The death of Reginald Hayward Smith of Saint John, NB, husband of the late Dorothy (Burke) Smith, occurred on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Torryburn, NB, he was a son of the late Fred and Hulda Smith. Reg had served in the Navy during WWII as an Able Seaman.; he was employed with Media Com in Outdoor Advertising and was an elder of Grace Presbyterian Church, and a member of Knights of Pythias. He is survived by two daughters, Gloria (Allan) Blue of Quispamsis, Judith (Sandy) Hetherington of Rothesay; one brother, Clair (Judy) Smith of Charlottetown; two grandchildren, Owen and Nathan Hetherington; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his step-mother, Lillian (McRae) Smith; three brothers, Douglas, Raymond and Calvin. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday, October 15, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2009 from Grace Presbyterian Church at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB, Kidney Foundation of Canada or a charity of the donor’s choice.
