Obituary of Betty J. Millett
MILLETT, BETTY J. – Betty Jean Millett of Darlings Island, wife of Ben C. Millett, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born at Saint John on September 18, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Theresa (Belyea) McKiel. Betty enjoyed knitting, sewing, reading, nature, her children and her grandchildren were the apple of her eye. In addition to her husband of 56 years, Betty is survived by three sons, Ben J. Millett of Riverview, David R. Millett (Angela) of Saint John, and John D. Millett of Saint John; daughters Linda McDonough (Rick) of Darlings Island, Pat Millett of Hampton, Susan Reid (David) of Ottawa, and Cathy Peacock of Hampton; a sister, Isabelle Morrison of Prince of Wales; a brother, Don “Butchie” McKiel of Saint John; 17 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by brothers Jim and Caddy McKiel, and a sister, Marjorie Cleveland. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 11:30 AM from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to Romero House, the Saint John Regional Hospital Auxiliary, or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
