Obituary of Bernice Roberta Mowery
Bernice Roberta Mowery of Saint John, wife of the late Gordon Arthur Mowery, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Saint John on May 31, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Edna (Clarke) Roberts. Bernice was an avid gardener, and enjoyed bowling and curling, as well as making crafts, travelling, music and dancing. She was formerly employed as a stenographer, her last job being with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs. She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 68, the Pythian Sisters, the Silver Threads Senior Citizen’s Club, and the Federal Superannuates Club. Bernice is survived by her children, Robert Mowery (Susan) of Saint John, and Sandra Johnson (Bob) of Stayner, Ontario; grandchildren Kimberly Groves (David) of Singhampton, Ontario, Christopher Johnson (Margaret) of Collingwood, Ontario, Christopher Graham (Jocelyn McAdam) of Saint John, and Jon Graham of Calgary; great grandchildren Jack, Ben, Mackenzie, Madelyn, Faith, Hope, and Travis; a brother, Robert Roberts of Saint John; a sister, Eleanor Beasley of Fredericton; a sister-in-law, Winnifred Roberts of Saint John; special friends Mary Bordage and Albert Vincent; and several nieces and nephews. Bernice was predeceased by a brother, Armand Roberts. In keeping with Bernice’s wishes, no formal funeral services will be held. Interment will take place at a later date in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. The funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
