Obituary of Gladys Myrtle Holbeche
Holbeche, Gladys Myrtle … The death of Gladys Myrtle Holbeche of Saint John, NB occurred on Friday, December 4, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Canaan, Queens Co., NB on October 7, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Althia (Thorne) Alward. Gladys was a member of Main Street Baptist Church and the Harambe Missionary Society. She had been employed with Dominion Stores as cashier. Survived by a son, Jack Leary of Scarborough, ON; two sisters, Rilla Lisson of Sussex, NB and Margaret Sprague of Kingsville, ON; two grandchildren, Clark (Kim) Leary and Susan Leary; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husbands, Jack Leary and Hubert Holbeche; five sisters, Muriel Bailey, Helen Rivers, Nina Raven, Myra Alward and Annie Ward; three brothers, Roy, Stanley and Donald Alward. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Saturday from 7-9 pm and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Monday, December 7, 2009 at 11:30 am. Interment will be in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or any charity of choice. www.brenansfh.com
