Born at Botwood, Newfoundland on May 26, 1939, he was a son of the late Max and Olive (Hipditch) Hillier. Following graduation from High School, Roy joined the Royal Canadian Navy, and then attended college in Oshawa, Ontario. He moved to Toronto where he met his wife and raised his family, living there for 35 years. Roy was instrumental in setting up the union at Erno Manufacturing, where he worked for 20 years before retiring and then moving to Rothesay in 2006. In addition to his wife of 25 years, Roy is survived by two daughters, Danielle Hillier (Aaron Cole) currently residing in Yemen, and Victoria Hillier of Toronto; a granddaughter, Sumayah, also in Yemen; brothers Gil Hillier (Kathy) of Corner Brook, NL, and Don Hillier (Debbie) of Brantford, ON; a sister, Alma Alexander (Cletis) of Stephenville, NL; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Roy was predeceased by a sister, Rita Allix and a brother, Alan Hillier. Although there will be no visiting, relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service, which will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 12 Noon from the chapel of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
