Obituary of Dorothy Agnes Walsh
Dorothy Agnes Walsh of Saint John, wife of the late James Alfred Walsh (the love of her life), passed away on Monday, March 15, 2010 at the Loch Lomond Villa. Born in Saint John on May 31, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Pearl (Sears) and Stewart Campbell. Dorothy worked at Woolworth’s until she married Jim. They enjoyed their home in Lakewood Heights, and they both were frequent City Transit users and enjoyed the City Market. Dorothy is survived by her son James A. Walsh Jr. (Kelly) of Quispamsis, and daughter Kathie E. Horgan (John) of Saint John. She was also blessed with 6 grandchildren, which she loved and adored: Shawn, Edward, Ross, and only granddaughter Jill Horgan, James Walsh and youngest grandchild Jacob Walsh. She is survived by 5 sisters: Bernice Nichols (the late William), Frances Pitt, Marion O’Neill (the late Vernon), Margaret Danaher (the late Robert), and Joan Goguen (the late Robert). Dorothy was predeceased by sisters Connie Rogers and Gloria Mullet and three brothers: George Campbell (Barbara), Gordon Campbell (Joan), and Stewart Campbell (the late Peggy). Dorothy also has family in England on Jim’s side. Dorothy was known for all her beautiful knitting of gifts, and always made everyone’s groom’s cake for their family weddings, and her early, early morning daily wake-up calls. She was a proud mother and grandmother and all will miss her. Donations could be made to Romero House. Many thanks to the staff of the Loch Lomond Villa, where she resided for the past two years. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, 634-7424, with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9. A memorial service will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 12 noon. Interment will take place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Golden Grove. www.brenansfh.com
