Obituary of Howard Foster Snodgrass
Howard Snodgrass Sr. passed away peacefully on Friday, November 27, 2009 at Surrey, British Columbia. Born at Saint John on January 16, 1928, he was a son of the late Charles C. and Estella M. (Sinnot) Snodgrass. Howard was a member of Local 946 Operating Engineers and worked on many major construction projects in the area. He was also a member of Local 273 of the Longshoreman’s Association, and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Howard is survived by his children, Donna Chipchase (Fred), Howard Snodgrass (Ann), John Snodgrass (Rob), Winnie Ellis (David), Marlene Morton, Charlie Snodgrass (Rose), Willie Snodgrass (Melvina), Kenney Snodgrass, Marion Savoy (Joey), and Arthur Snodgrass (Carolyn); a sister, Marion Pridham of Vancouver; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Howard was predeceased by a daughter, Ardith Snodgrass; by brothers Donald, Edwin, and Wilfred Snodgrass; and by a sister, Winnifred Apperly. A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to thank Howard’s nephew Robert Snodgrass and his wife Barb for the excellent care given to him this past year. The funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
