Obituary of Lillian Louise Urquhart
The death of Lillian L. Urquhart of Saint John, wife of the late Frederick H. Urquhart occurred at her residence on February 7, 2010. Lillian was born in St. Martins the daughter of the late James W. and Florence L. (Verner) Brittain. Before her marriage Lillian worked for Watts Hardware Store. Later on she and her husband Fred owned and operated Urquhart’s Fuel Oil for years. She was a life long member of the former Waterloo Street Baptist Church and a member of Moulson Temple # 14 Pythian Sisters. She belonged to the Joy Club and the LOBA. She was a skilled homemaker, excelled at sewing, knitting and hooking rugs. She created a comfortable and loving home for her family- the shelves were always full of jams, pickles and the cookie tin was never empty. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by a son, Malcolm F. Urquhart, and brothers, Arthur and Allison Brittain. Lillian is survived by her son, Gary (Lois) Urquhart of Saint John; daughter, Janice (Christopher) Waldschutz of Saint John; her brother, G. Stewart Brittain of Rothesay; grandchildren: Timothy, Heather, Daniel (Chastity), Jeffrey (Jennifer), Kelli, Ross (Megan) Urquhart, Jennifer and Colin (Jan) Waldschutz; great grandchildren: Lauren, Tyler, Jacob, Aiden and Addison Urquhart, and Neil and Andrew Waldschutz; daughter in law, Muriel Selick of Moncton; nephews, James (Heather), John, Randy, and Bradley (Atina) Brittain; neice, Beth Ridgeway; sister in law, Elizabeth Brittain of Saint John; one uncle, Frank Hicks of Saint John and several cousins. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, (634-7424) from where the funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, with the service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. The family has requested for those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, February 9, from 3:00-9:00 p.m. www.brenansfh.com
