Obituary of Sterling Leslie Jones
The passing of Les Jones, of Renforth, occurred on Friday, October 2, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born on March 24, 1924 in Kars Parish, Kings County to the late Ford and Mary (Coleman) Jones. Les was a loving husband, father, companion, brother, uncle and a friend to many. He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. Les retired from and worked for Downey Ford. He was also an Auxiliary Officer with the RCMP for over 15 years. Les was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his daughter Karen Melanson (Leo); special friend, Ann MacIsaac; sister, Shirley Jones and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Les was predeceased by his wife Lois (Alexander) Jones and brothers: Hedley and Harley Jones. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday from 7-9 pm. A celebration of Les’ life will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 11:30 am. For those who wish, remembrances to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
