Obituary of Walter Raymond Moore
After a brief illness, Walter (Sandy) Raymond Moore of Saint John passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 9, 2010. The son of the late J. H. Franklin Moore and M. Florence (Chambers) Moore, he was born in Apohaqui, New Brunswick on October 25, 1924. A Veteran of the Second World War (Navy), he was predeceased by two brothers, Ft. Lt. Richard Burton Moore, Murray (Bud) Moore, and a sister, Mildred Hamilton. Dearly loved for his kind heart and tremendous wit, he was a loving husband, a wonderful father and grandfather, and a kind and considerate brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. Walter is survived by his immediate family, including his beloved wife of nearly sixty years, Phyllis (Horsman) Moore; daughter Wendy and husband Rick Clark of Saint John, as well as two grandsons, Matthew Ian Clark and his wife Kealy of Fredericton and Tyler Jonathon Clark of Kalgoorlie, Australia, as well as several nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment and graveside service will take place in the spring at the Riverbank Cemetery, Norton. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family, in lieu of flowers.
