Obituary of Inez Sylvia Hamilton
Inez Sylvia Hamilton of Saint John East, wife of the late Merritt Hamilton, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Burton, Sunbury County on July 22, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Gladys (Hatch) Banks. Inez has been a resident of Saint John East since 1954, and was a long time member of Park Avenue United Church, where she was involved with the United Church Women. She enjoyed cooking, especially baking bread and making mustard pickles, and in her younger years enjoyed knitting. Inez is survived by her children, Gerry Hamilton of Saint John, Daryl Hamilton (Doreen) of Rothesay, and Barb Belyea (Graham) of Rothesay; grandchildren Corey Belyea (Carrie), Jamie Belyea, and Marc Carey (Shari); great grandchildren Milo Brannen, Emma, Maddy, and Kelty Carey; sisters Ruth Wilson (Charlie) of Fredericton, Janet McElman of Gagetown, and Lois Hodnett (Bob) of Fredericton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Inez was predeceased by a brother, Kenny Banks; and by sisters Leona Ashburne, and infant Anna Lorraine Banks. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday from 7-9 PM and Thursday from 2-4 and7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 12:00 Noon from Park Avenue United Church. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to Park Avenue United Church or to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
