Obituary of Winston Angus Grigg
Winston Angus Grigg of Quispamsis, husband of Rosalie E. (Ford) Grigg, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Summerside, PEI on October 9, 1950, he was a son of Greta (MacLennan) Grigg and the late Graydon Grigg. Winston owned and operated R.E. Grigg Pools Ltd. since 1992. In the winter months, he enjoyed plowing snow for Renforth Construction, and was a self-proclaimed “jack of all trades”. He could be found every Sunday at the curling rink watching his children, where he was affectionately known as “the Coach”. He coached minor hockey and ball hockey, and supported his children in all their endeavours. Winston was a “support post” for many of his friends … a person who you could really count on … and he enjoyed the role of helping people. He was a great storyteller as well, as the people at Scholtens knew first hand. He was a wonderful husband and father, whose family was the most important thing in his life. In addition to his wife, Winston is survived by his mother, Greta of Tyne Valley, PEI; his children, Karen Grigg (Giles Oland) of Grand Bay, Katie Grigg (Barrett Boles) of Quispamsis, and Ryan Grigg (Jessica Legacy) of Quispamsis; his mother-in-law, Mary Helen Ford of Tyne Valley; sisters Erma Ellis (Burton) of Tyne Valley, Jean Gallant of Summerside, and Ernest Grigg (Rowena) of Tyne Valley; several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends. Winston was predeceased by his father, Graydon, and his father-in-law, Fred Ford. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Sunday from 7-9 PM and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 PM from the Quispamsis United Church. Interment will take place in the spring. For those who wish, remembrances to the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
