Obituary of David Blane Rogers

The death of David Blane Rogers of Saint John, NB, husband of Lucille (Martin) Rogers, occurred on Tuesday, November 09, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on September 18, 1938, he was a son of the late Bernard and Nita (Ekstrom) Rogers. David worked at NB Tel and Aliant for many years and could often be found meeting his friends at Tim Horton's. He loved spending time with family and friends at his cottage on the Kennebecasis Island which has been a haven for him and his family for many years, but his greatest joy in life was his grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye. He is survived by his loving wife, Lucille; three sons, David (Wanda) of Woodstock, Andrew (Colette) of Saint John and Gary (Lisa) of Woodstock; one daughter, Christine Rogers of Saint John; four grandchildren, Alex, Natalie, Melanie and Mark; two step-grandchildren, Samuel and Leo; two brothers, Gerry (Mary Lou) and Bernard, both of Saint John; one sister, Gertrude Foote of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by one brother, Louis Rogers; four sisters, Carol Delaney, Marney Rogers, Bernita Ritchie and Joy Searle. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday, November 11, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Church, 316 Somerset Street, on Friday, November 12, 2010 at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
