Obituary of Donald H. Cruikshank
The death of Donald Cruikshank, husband of the late Olga Helen (Bell) Cruikshank, occurred on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born on July 4, 1920 at Fredericton, NB to the late William and Louise (Weldon Sharpe) Cruikshank. Donald was highly decorated combat veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force, Royal Air Force and US Army Air Core in World War II. He fought mostly in North Africa. Following the war, Donald had a long career with various firms including: Housing Administer for the City of Saint John, Saint John Airport Manager and Sales Manager for many transportation companies. In his retirement, Donald worked as a Commissionaire and an Inventor. He is survived by two sons: Eric (Cleo) of Rockville, MD and Stevan (Che) of Victoria, BC; two daughters: Carolyn Cugini of Miami, FL and Elaine Jacobsen (Darryl) of Maple Ridge, BC; 15 grandchildren; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, Donald was predeceased by his siblings: Douglas, Jack, Leslie, Mary and Frances and grandson, Sergio. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Donald loved and was loved by all his family and will be missed. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row Saint John (634-7424). A Royal Canadian Legion Service will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 7 PM from Brenan’s Funeral Home. For those who wish, remembrances to the Royal Canadian Legion would be appreciated by the family.
