Obituary of Charles Roy Smith

After a period of failing health, the passing of Charles Smith, husband of Dorothy Smith, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, October 25, 2009. He was born at Saint John to the late Charles H. and Violet (Morgan) Smith. Charles worked for over 25 years for the Saint John General Hospital as an ambulance driver. In his youth, Charles was an avid hunter and fisherman. Besides his loving wife of 50 years, Dorothy, he is survived by two sons: Charles M (Yvonne) of Quispamsis and Ian of Renforth; two grandchildren; Jennifer Smith (Matthew Copper) and Maxwell Smith. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Laurena Smith. Charles was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 1 pm. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
