Obituary of Bertha May Saunders
The death of Bertha May (Laskey) Saunders, formerly of Edith Avenue, wife of the late Arthur Saunders, occurred on Friday, May 14, 2010 at the Loch Lomond Villa. Born in Fredericton, NB, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Edith (Burden) Laskey. She was a member of All Saints Anglican Church, Park Avenue and their Altar Guild, Rebekah Sapphire Lodge # 37, avid bridge player and a great cook. Bertha is survived by one daughter, Gloria (William) Mattsson of Saint John; one sister, Eileen Thomas of Markham, ON; two grandchildren, William (Kathy) and Gerald (Sharon); five great-grandchild, Kristen, Megan, Lauren, Kileigh and Will; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by two brothers, Ronald and Gerald, brother-in-law, Arnold Thomas. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (634-7424) with visiting on Sunday, May 16, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 17, 2010 from All Saints Anglican Church, Park Avenue at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances may be made to All Saints Anglican Church or a charity of the donor’s choice
