Obituary of Margaret 'Maggie' Mortimer
Mortimer, Margaret Anne … The family regretfully announces the passing of Margaret “Peggy” “Maggie” Anne Mortimer of Rothesay, NB, wife of James Frederick Mortimer, occurred on Monday, September 28, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Toronto, ON on July 2, 1922, a daughter of the late James Arthur and Norma Ecclestone (Smith) Gairdner. Survived by her husband of 63 years; beloved mother and grandmother to Jim (Joyce) Mortimer of Darlings Island, NB and Jayne Mortimer of Kingston, NB; her six grandchildren, Jamie (Teresa) Kindred, Aisha Kindred, Will (Crystal) Mortimer, Sara (Jon) Grinton, Alexandra (Vincent Martin) Mortimer and Stefanie Mortimer; ten great-grandchildren; also survived by one sister, Ellen Todd of Kitchener, ON; two sisters-in-law, Joan Mortimer O’Blenis of Halifax, NS and Betty Coleman of Sydney, Australia; one brother-in-law, Jack Cantelon of Victoria, BC; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen “Kate” Anne Mortimer (May 24, 1997); two brothers, Jim and Jock Gairdner; and a sister, Jane Gairdner Cantelon. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424. Funeral Service will be held from St. Paul’s Church, Rothesay, NB on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 1:00 pm. A private family interment will be held in Fernhill Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers remembrances made to Bobby’s Hope House would be appreciated by the family. www.brenansfh.com
