Obituary of Maxine Ruth Springer
Maxine Ruth Springer of Saint John, wife of H. William (Bill) Springer, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, January 30, 2010, following a period of failing health. Born at Hartland, NB on January 22, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Budd and Erma (Hatfield) Ellis. Maxine was formerly employed at the Dr. William F. Roberts Hospital School, and then at the New Brunswick Community College in Saint John, from where she retired in 1996. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and crossword puzzles, and used to bowl and play darts in her younger years. In addition to her husband of 51 years, Maxine is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Estey (Dan) of Saint John, and Shelley Wood of Upper Golden Grove; grandchildren Katelynn Estey, Corey Lynn Estey, Teri Wood, Anthony Wood, Randy Wood, Shawn Nichols, and Morgan Nichols; a brother, Dalton Ellis (Ann) of Hartland; sisters Nadine Anderson (Raymond) of Woodstock, Barbara Lewis (Heber) of Hartland, and Joan Crabbe (Graydon) of Woodstock; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents, Maxine was predeceased by her youngest daughter, Stacey Maureen Springer in 2001. The family would like to extend thanks to the staff of the Extra Mural Hospital, especially Linda Campbell, for their excellent care over the past few years, as well as to the Emergency Responders for their kindness and professionalism. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday from 7-9 PM and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1:00 PM from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the New Brunswick Lung Association or to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
