Obituary of Irene Mary Roach
The death of Irene Roach occurred at the Rocmaura Nursing Home in Saint John, NB on Saturday, March 6, 2010. She was born in Buctouche, NB in 1917 to the late Damien and Philamene (Gaillet) Leblanc. She was predeceased by her husband Armand, her five brothers, Leo, Alec, Felix, Anselme and Frederick, and her four sisters, Anna, Elise, Babee and Henriette. She is survived by her son, Paul and his wife Mary (Rooney), her two grandchildren, Jill and Sean and several nieces and nephews. Irene spent the majority of her life in Saint John attending to the three important areas she considered essential: her faith, her family, and her friends. A devoted wife and mother, she gave unselfishly to the welfare of her husband and her son. She had a brief career as a hairdresser but her main emphasis was that of homemaker. Irene was very active in the church. She was particularly proud of being one of the founding members, with her husband, in the creation of the “30 up” Club at Assumption. She saw this as an opportunity for promoting community within the parish. She communicated love particularly to her family and to her friends. She, in turn, was loved. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Church of the Assumption on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 12:00 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Rocmaura Nursing Home Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
