Obituary of Elizabeth Alexis Forbes
The death of Elizabeth Alexis Forbes of Gardner Creek, NB, occurred on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Gardner Creek on November 23, 1914, she was a daughter of the late William and Ursula (Crocker) Forbes. Elizabeth was a Veteran of World War II, before enlisting she was a school teacher, upon her return from the War Elizabeth furthered her career by graduating from the University Of New Brunswick, Fredericton in 1953 and then attended Oxford and North Western; she was then employed with the department of Mental Heath of NB until her retirement in 1979. Elizabeth was an avid reader and bird watcher, and was well known in the community for her quilting and needlepoint. She loved to garden, cook, listen to classical music and spend time with her family. Survived by two nieces, Linda (John) Forbes and Connie (Michael) Dow; one nephew, Tom Forbes; three great-nieces, Sarah, Alexis and Caitlin; one great-nephew, Christopher; one great-great-niece, Reese and one great-great-nephew, Ethan. Predeceased by her brother, George C. Forbes. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 11:30 am. Interment will be held at a later date.
