Obituary of Gretta Winnifred Williams
The death of Gretta Winnifred (Rae) Williams of Saint John, wife of the late, Ralph Williams, occurred on Friday, October 22, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Brookville, NB, on September 26, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Annie (Cheyne) Rae. Gretta graduated from Saint John High School in 1932 and Normal School in 1934. She was a school teacher for many years, having taught in several one-room schools, as well as Fairville School, Winter Street School and East Saint John School. Survived by her daughters, Evelyn Feicht (Matt) of Saint John and, Marilyn Williams (Michael Horrobin) of Saint John; brother, Charles Rae of Saint John; sisters, Helen Rae and Hilda Rae, both of Saint John; grandchildren, Matthew (Amanda) and Bradley Feicht and Cian Horrobin; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Kolton Feicht, as well as several nieces and nephews. Gretta was predeceased by her brothers, Wendell Rae and John Rae. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, 634-7424 with visiting on Sunday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 PM. Funeral Liturgy will be held from St. Pius X Church, Somerset Street, on Monday, October 25, 2010 at 12:00 PM. Interment to take place in Long Reach United Church Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Arthritis Society or to the Animal Rescue League.
