Obituary of Ellen Theresa Anderson
Ellen passed away peacefully on July 4, 2010 surrounded by her family. Ellen the eldest daughter of ten children of Connie (McHugh) Flecknell and the late Vesey Flecknell, was born on February 26, 1947 in Saint John, NB. Her childhood years were spent between Dartmouth, NS and Saint John, NB, as Vesey, her father was in the Navy. She graduated from Simonds High School in 1965. After some time in the Navy herself, Ellen returned to Saint John, married and started her family. She worked in the HR department of Irving Oil at the Golden Ball and after 28 years of service retired in June 2009. Ellen coordinated the Irving Oil Family Picnic for the past 20 years and organized the Annual Christmas Reception and Service Awards Ceremonies. Ellen was an associate member of Somme Branch 53, Jarvis Bay Legion for ten years attending meetings and helping out when needed. She was looking forward to spending her retirement with her many friends and family at Coy Lake Campground where she was part owner. Ellen loved to read, cook, bake, quilt, do needlepoint and spend time with her grandchildren. Ellen is survived by her partner of 23 years, Donna Carter, her children: Shane (Lisa) Anderson, Hamilton, ON, Sara (Dave) Love, Kingston, NB, and Amy (Darren) McNamee, Quispamsis, NB; grandchildren: Lauren, Hayden, Jordan, Austen, Sadie and Nora, mother, Connie Flecknell; brothers and sisters: Pat (Karen), Lynda (Wayne) Foggoa, Gail (Jim) Braman, Terry (Nancy), Mary (Tom) Boucher, Judy Flecknell (Jeff Williams), Gerald and Joan Flecknell (Diane Doiron); several aunts and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Arthur and her father Vesey Flecknell. She will be missed greatly by all whom knew and loved her. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Church, Bayside Drive on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to the Saint John Extra Mural Nurses and the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital.
