Obituary of Joseph J. Duplessis
Joseph Duplessis Jr. of Saint John, husband of Elsie P. (Branscombe) Duplessis, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Jacquet River on December 25, 1937, he was a son of the late Stephen Albert and Marie (Daigle) Duplessis. Joe moved from Jacquet River to Saint John in the mid 1950’s, where he worked as a painter, mostly for R. H. Laskey. He was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Jacquet River, and as an avid outdoorsman, loved to hunt and fish. In addition to his wife of 53 years, Joe is survived by his children, Dianne Searle (Peter), Robert Duplessis (Christine), and Francis Duplessis (Rosa), all of Saint John; eight grandchildren, Michael, Sara, Jonathan, Allison, Mark, Katie, Peter, and Brent; brothers David (Fran), Francis (Norma), and Charles (Carol); sisters Carmoline, Betty (Henry), Trish (John-Paul) and Ann (Art); and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by an infant son, Joseph; and by a daughter, Florence. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Friday from 2-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Church, 316 Somerset Street, Saint John, on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 9:30 AM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
