I remember Verdun as a kind and funny man. He used to come to my uncle’s summer cottage when I was a little kid. I remember once he did an improv ventriloquism act for my sister and me. We were both amazed that he had stopped what he was doing, (probably eating that same sandwich) to entertain two (probably annoying) little kids.
