Obituary of Anna Catherine McIllwraith
The death of Anna Catherine (McCollum) McIllwraith formerly of Saint John, NB, wife of the late Gordon McIllwraith, occurred on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Kiwanis Nursing Home Sussex, NB. Born in Ireland she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Ritchie) McCollum.Anna was employed as a school teacher in Newton, NB, and a clerk for various retail outlets until her retirement; she was an avid bingo player. Anna is survived by her five children: Elizabeth Rackley of NS, Judith Paylor of Toronto, Gerald “Gordon” McIllwraith of Saint John, Mary Doucet (Kerry) of Hamilton, Theresa Shipley (Patrick) of Kingston Peninsula; brother, Joseph McCollum (Norma) of NS, sister, Cecilia Muscat (Michael) of Sussex; twelve grandchildren, twelve great–grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by brothers: John and David; sister, Rosemary. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Monday and Tuesday, November 1 and 2, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Joachim’s Church on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 12 Noon. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish remembrances to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
