Obituary of Ella G. Oliver
Ella Gertrude Oliver of Saint John, wife of the late Ronald W. Oliver, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Kennebec Manor. Born in Saint John on May 4, 1918, she was a daughter of the late George H. and Mary B. (McCafferty) Lawson. Ella and Ron operated Oliver’s Grocery in the North End for several years. She was a lifelong member of Portland United Church, as well as the Pythian Sisters Loyalist Temple #13 and the Saint John Chapter # 14 of the Order of the Eastern Star. In her spare time, Ella liked bowling, reading, and playing cribbage. Ella is survived by her children, Bill Oliver (Christine) of Kiersteadville, and Rosemary Oliver (Roger Paris) of Saint John; son-in-law, Alderic Goguen of Moncton; sister, Lydia Keith of Saint John; grandchildren Christina Cyr (Paul), Sandy Goguen (Lynn), Jeffrey Goguen (Robin), Christa Oliver (James MacNeil) and Daniel Oliver; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Ella was predeceased by daughter, Elizabeth Goguen; grandson, Derek Goguen; brothers Charles Lawson, Wendell Best, and James Best; and sister, Agnes Louise Stonely. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 12:00 Noon from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to Kennebec Manor would be appreciated by the family.
