Obituary of Nicholas Matthew Dobbelsteyn

It is with great sadness we announce Nicholas’ passing on December 27, 2012 at the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital, with his family at his side. Born in Saint John, NB, May 1, 1927, Nicholas was the eldest son of the late Nicholas L. and Mary E. (Frauley). Nicholas is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara (Bond), four sons; Eric (Rick) G. (Nancy) of Rothesay, NB, Rodney M. (Francine) of Kingston Peninsula, Randall G. of Saint John, and Russell L. (Elizabeth) of Sussex, NB., grandchildren; Jason, Susan, Tammy, Christopher, Lori, Justin, Jonathan, Alicia and Michael, great grandchildren; Josh and Robyn, many nieces and nephews, three brothers; Raymond (Jeanette), Allison (Barbara) and Henry (Mary Lou), sister-in-law; Mary (Irving) Dobbelsteyn. He was predeceased by brothers, Joseph and Gerald.Nick loved his family and was a quiet, religious, honest and caring person. He retired from Irving Oil Ltd. in 1989. Although there will be no visitation, friends and family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated from St. Peter’s Church, 50 Clarendon Street, on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 11:00. Donations made to Romero House would be appreciated by the family. The funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
