Jean was educated in Saint John, Sherbrooke, QC and Toronto, ON. She served with the Royal Canadian Air Force (W.D.) in Radio Public Relations, Ottawa, during World War II. She returned to New Brunswick after the war to reside at her Mother’s family home in Westfield. Jean was employed as a secretary for Dr. T. W. Cushing in the Special Education Department of School District 20 (currently known as Anglophone South) for 25 years before retiring in 1980. She was an active member of Westfield United Church, serving on all church boards and was an honourary member of Session. She contributed essays on the history of her church congregation at the village of Westfield. She was also a valued member of the Westfield Golf and Country Club, Union Club, I.O.D.E (Katherine E.
