Obituary of Nelda Elise Dean
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Nelda Dean of Saint John, wife of the late Douglas M. Dean, announces her passing which occurred peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Albert County on November 16, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Roland and Hazel (Anderson) Smith. Nelda truly enjoyed her job as a nurse’s aid and after a rewarding career she retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital. She treasured the times spent with her family and will always be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Nelda is survived by her sons, Wayne, Gregory (Doris) and Carl all of Saint John; sisters, Cleo, Marina and Carla; brothers, Roland and Paul; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; special niece, Hazel Marie; as well as several other nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, July 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Forest Hills Baptist Church, 36 Mountain Road, Saint John on Wednesday, July 23 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Lung Association.
