Obituary of Lloyd Ardee Garland
Surrounded by his family, the death of Lloyd Garland, husband of Joan (Knox) Garland occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, April 19, 2014. He was born on August 12, 1927 in Saint John. Lloyd was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He enlisted in Saint John in 1950 and was discharged at Greenwood, NS in August of 1977. Lloyd spent 27 years of his life serving his country. Lloyd was a awarded the Korean Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Canadian Forces Decoration for his many years service. Besides Joan his wife of over 59 years, Lloyd is survived by his daughter, Cindy Lou Garland of Saint John, sister, Eleanor Robar of Scarborough, ON; grandchildren: Stephanie, Jacqueline, Connor and Vanessa; great-grandchildren: Haley Korynn and Madison and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers: Ora, Howard and Gordon and sisters: Kathleen, Bertha, Evelyn and Frances. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute to a Veteran Service will be held on Wednesday 7:00 pm during visitation. The Funeral Service will be held from St. John Baptist (Mission Church) and St. Clement Church, 815 Millidge Avenue on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish remembrances to the church or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
