Obituary of Kathleen Joan Withers
Peacefully at her home, Kathleen Withers of Fairfield beloved wife of the late Nelson Withers passed away in her 100th year on Sunday, November 22, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Marian (Ball) Smith. Born on March 15, 1916 in London, England, Kathleen came to Canada as a war bride in 1945. She was an active member of the Fairfield United Baptist Church and had worked a few years at Eatons. She had spent numerous hours volunteering at the Saint John Regional Hospital and singing with various choirs in the area. Kathleen is survived by her children, Laurance Withers (Ruth), Stuart Withers (Chris), Malcolm Withers (Debra) and Angela Saunders (Robert); sister, Pamela Barfoot (Nick); grandchildren, Neil, Charlie, Danny, Paul, Emily, Ruth Anne and Andy, 11 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Kathleen was also predeceased by her sister, Edith McCullagh. Resting at Fairfield United Baptist Church (1395 Fairfield Route 111) with visiting on Thursday, November 26, 2015 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM, from where the funeral service will also be held on Friday, November 27, 2015 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in Browns Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Fairfield United Baptist Church.
