Obituary of Doris Eileen Nelson
Doris Eileen (Watters) Nelson passed away on October 30, 2015. Born on April 27, 1942 she was a daughter of the late Frederick and May (Stubbs) Watters. Doris was a lifetime member of the Portland Untied Church. A long-time employee of Regal Greetings and Gifts. A member of the UCW, Carleton Choristers and her church choir. She especially enjoyed camping at New River Beach and caring for her grandchildren. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, William Alton Lorne Nelson; sons, Philip (Elizabeth Donnelly-Nelson), Jeffery (Michele Burns) and Brent (Laurie); daughter Heather Cormier (Armand); grandchildren, Alex, James, Brandon, Ryan and Grace; step grandchildren and step great- grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Keohan, Donna Sproul and Darlene Silliker (Ian); in laws, Dorothy Rimbault, Muriel Farrer, Donald Nelson, Sharon Lister, Ronald Nelson (Jane) and Jean Watters. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings Frederick, Robert, Ruth Ann, Jean Elizabeth, Paul Alexander and Gary. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of the Saint John Regional Hospital ER, SICU, 4CN and Palliative Care Unit for their wonderful support and to Dr. Susan Gray and Dr. Burnell who cared for Doris for many years. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Portland United Church on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 2:00 PM. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Kidney Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation or Portland United Church.
