Obituary of Thomas J. Power
With his family at his side the death of Tom Power, husband of Margaret (Wilson) Power occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, January 2, 2014. He was born on July 18, 1938 in Newfoundland to the late John and Beatrice (Oakey) Power. Tom worked for Day and Ross and Thompson Transfer as a professional driver for many years until his retirement. He was a member of St. John Baptist (Mission Church) and St. Clement. Tom is also survived by his sons: John Power and Arthur Power (Linda) both of Saint John; brother, Bernard Power of Caledonia, NS; sisters: Margaret, Kathleen and Violet all of Newfoundland; grandchildren: Zane, Craig, Shera, Mike (Brittany), Shaylene and Courtney; great-grandchildren: Kayleigh, Jordyn, Carter and Melody; step-children: Terry Jefferson, Randy Jefferson (Debbie), Tony Wilson, Mona Campbell (Mike), Dean Wilson (Karen) and Karen Thorne (John) and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his first wife, Elizabeth (Hawkins) Power. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Sunday from 2- 4 and 6-8 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from St. John Baptist (Mission Church) and St. Clement on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
