Obituary of Barbara Ann Wilson
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Barbara A. Wilson announce her passing, which occurred on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on November 4, 1931, she was a daughter of the late William and Edna (Waterfield) Alchorn and loving wife of the late J. Arthur Wilson. Barbara’s life was devoted to her family, who were her whole world. She cherished her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She began her career at Royal Bank and Bank of Nova Scotia and later worked as a bookkeeper for Shoppers Drug Mart, Courney Drugs, Eton Construction and the Union Club. She was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Church and also St. Peter’s Catholic Women’s League. She will be missed by her children, Mary Ellen Maillet (Robert), Helen T. Russell (Robert), Peter J. Wilson (Brenda), Mark T. Wilson (Moira) and Jeffrey G. Wilson (Patti); grandchildren, Katherine Haines (Jonathan), Natalie Cogswell (Shawn), Rachel Griffith (Rob), David Maillet (Kathleen Archer), Matthew Wilson (Melissa), Christopher Wilson (Victoria), Elizabeth Wilson (Daryl Ritcey), Michael Wilson, Kevin Wilson (Kate Kelly), Stephen Wilson (Lori Graham) and Kyle Wilson (Danielle Chiasson); great grandchildren, Sadie and Ryan Haines, Paul and Claire Wilson and Jordan Cogswell; a sister, Phyllis Lethbridge; daughter-in-law, Jewel Wilson; Sisters-in-law, Catherine Wilson, Patricia Wilson and Sarah Wilson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was predeceased by two grandchildren, John Wilson and Laura Russell; brothers, Garfield Alchorn, Arthur Alchorn, William Alchorn, John Alchorn and Clayton "Buster" Frawsel and a sister, Utah Finn. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). Although there will be no visitation, you are invited to attend a celebration of Barbara’s life, which will take place on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Peter’s Church, 50 Clarendon Street, Saint John, NB. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Rett Syndrome Foundation or IWK Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
