Obituary of Marilyn Jane McGloan
The death of Marilyn Jane McGloan (nee Cullinan), wife of the late Thomas L. McGloan, Q.C., occurred at her home in Saint John on February 19, 2015. Born in Montreal, Quebec, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Marion (McCluskey) Cullinan. Marilyn grew up in Toronto where she attended St. Michael’s and became a nurse at Sick Children’s Hospital and would spend most summers on Long Reach. In her 20s, she moved to Saint John with her parents where she met Tom shoveling snow and they were married in 1958. She was a passionate artist but her greatest love was her children. She was the loving mother of four children, John McGloan (Tina) and Mark McGloan (Debbie); daughters, Beth McGloan Asimakos (Peter) and Jane Kennedy (Jamie); also surviving are her grandchildren, Margaret Kennedy, Caroline Asimakos, John Asimakos, Christian Asimakos, Thomas McGloan, and Nicholas McGloan; sisters-in-law, Sr. Ann Marie McGloan of the Sisters of Charity in Saint John, Mary-Eileen Kenny (the Late Desmond) of Calgary, and Maura Keenan (Gerard) of Fredericton; special friend, Archie "Bud" Walsh of Boston; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424), with visiting on Monday, February 23, from 7-9 and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Church on Wednesday, February 25 at 11:00 a.m., with interment to take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Greater Saint John Community Foundation - The Thomas L. McGloan Fund, Divine Mercy Catholic School or to a charity of the donor's choice.
