Obituary of Leo Aloise Kenel
The death of Leo Kenel of Saint John occurred on Saturday, July 18. 2015 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born on June 21, 1935 in Arth-Goldau, Switzerland. In 1969, Leo became the owner of the Swiss Diner, which later became well known as Leo’s Supper Club where he retired from in 2004. Leo is survived by his son, Tiberius Kenel (Katrina) of Rothesay and their children Ethan, Emma and Julia; his daughter, Isabella Kenel (John Lisson) of Calgary and their children Lauren (Michael), Colin, Janice Hamilton (Craig) and John B. Lisson (Nicole); sisters, Marie-Theres Kenel and Anna-Marie Heuser (Sepp) all of Zurich, Switzerland; brother, Albert Kenel (Marianne) of Zug, Switzerland; nieces, Rita and Christel; as well as many special friends whose kindness and support will never be forgotten by Leo’s family. He was predeceased by his sister, Christel Frei and brother-in-law, Anton Frei. Although there will be no visitation, friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 31 Gondola Point Road, Rothesay on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at 5:00 PM. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Hospice Saint John – Palliative Care Unit.
